1st Lt. George Albert Boyd – Nov 1923 – Jun 2006

George Boyd married Jeanette Carpenter on December 26, 1946, in Harris County, Texas. They divorced on March 16, 1992, also in Harris County, Texas.

GEORGE ALBERT BOYD, 82, passed away on June 2, 2006, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mr. Boyd was born November 12, 1923 in Houston, TX. He spent his youth on the family farm in Pasadena, graduating from Pasadena High School in 1940. He enrolled at Texas A&M and then enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp in Dec. 1942. After successfully completing 25 missions over the South Pacific as a 1st Lt. B24 pilot he married Jeanette Carpenter in Dec. 1946. He graduated in May of 1948, with a Mechanical Engineers degree.

George is preceded in death by his parents Louise A. and Samuel D. Boyd, wife Jeanette, and Sister Nancy Boyd Crane. He is survived by his children Candace A. Boyd, Susan L. Boyd, husband Craig Thiessen, Douglas C. Boyd, wife Roxanne, and Joseph A, Boyd, wife Kathy. His beloved grandchildren are Stacia A. French, Kevin B. Meeker, Joseph Ryan Boyd, Dustyn A. Boyd, Alexander C. Boyd and William C. Andress.

He was a past president of Baywood Country Club and the Spring Branch-Memorial Sports Assoc. George’s life long passion was golf. He also enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball along with watching the Houston Astros. His children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, June 6, at South Park Funeral Home, where the funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Pallbearers will be his 6 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.
